Big Chair Lofts
Thomasville, NC 2018
Located in downtown Thomasville, North Carolina, the historic Thomasville Furniture Mill had fallen into severe disrepair, with portions of the building deteriorating and collapsing upon itself. Through a comprehensive historic tax credit rehabilitation, the former furniture mill was transformed into 139 affordable, loft-style apartments, breathing new life into an important piece of Thomasville’s industrial heritage.
The development incorporates a range of amenities designed to enhance residents’ quality of life, including a business center, game room, exercise facility, resident theater, management office, and playground. The project successfully preserved and repurposed the historic mill while creating quality affordable housing and bringing renewed activity to downtown Thomasville.
